Senior Date Party

Shark Week in August
Last Friday Pi Phi hosted our final date party of the spring 2012 semester.  It's a Kansas Beta tradition for seniors to plan their last date party, and this year they came up with the theme Calendar Girls! Members chose their favorite month and dressed up in costume accordingly.  Outfits ranged from March spring breakers to hunting season in November and K-State games in September.  The event was held in K-State's popular Aggieville District at Kat House Lounge.  It was a great way for members to have fun before preparing for finals week and leaving for summer!

Angels Encourage a Love for Reading in Elementary Schools

For 100 years Pi Beta Phi has focused its philanthropic efforts on literacy.  Kansas Beta hosts three philanthropies throughout each school year to benefit literacy and support Read. Lead. Achieve. and First Book.  In addition, we participate in a monthlong community service project in the spring semester called Champions Are Readers (CAR)  where members of Kansas Beta visit elementary schools in the Manhattan community.  This year we had a great time laughing, reading, and teaching 3rd graders from both Marlatt Elementary school and Bluemont Elementary school!  We're looking forward to our next project in 2013 and continuing to spread the importance of literacy to a new bunch of students.  Thank you to all the Pi Phis who made a difference in their lives!

Pi Phi Wins Derby Days for the Second Consecutive Year

Congratulations Pi Beta Phi for winning Sigma Chi's Derby Days for the second consecutive year!

Derby Days is a week long competition between K-State sororities.  Often compared to Homecoming, participants compete in daily events including a lip sync show, field competition and a volleyball tournament.  The week brings out a great deal of spirit as hundreds of women come together to support their sisters and their letters. This philanthropy benefits both the Children's Miracle Network and the Hunstman Cancer Foundation.

Congrats again to the women of Pi Phi.  We hope to bring home the trophy again next year!

Angels Accepted Into KSU Student Foundation

Congratulations to PC '10 members Ellen Bergkamp and Madeline Sanders for being accepted into the prestigious KSU Student Foundation!

New members of the student foundation are chosen every year through a competitive selection process. Ellen, an Agricultural Economics major, was one of fifteen new members to be selected this year. Madeline, a Food Science major, is now serving her second year for the foundation. Members of the foundation serve as ambassadors of philanthropy, and raise awareness about the importance of giving back to K-State. The foundation consists of 35 members who participate in activities such as alumni interaction, campus hosts, and scholarship management. They also coordinate the K-State Proud student campaign, which has raised around $550,000 for Student Opportunity Awards in the past six years.

We are so proud of you Ellen and Madeline! We look forward to seeing all the amazing things you will do for K-State!

Pi Phi Participates in Greek Week

Black Team
The week of April 9th has proven to be a busy one for Pi Phi, as members of Kansas Beta participate in K-State's Greek Week! This year, the greek community was grouped together in teams to compete in daily events.  Pi Phi is proud to be a part of the Black Team with Delta Upsilon, Sigma Chi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Triangle, Delta Lambda Phi, and Alpha Chi Omega.  Greek Week began on Monday with the Greek Games, a compilation of a trivia contest, relay race, tug of war contest and Black Team's first place win in the dodgeball tournament!  Greeks Got Talent competition and the revealing of our fall homecoming partners took place on Wednesday night.  Pi Phi will compete in Homecoming 2012 with TKE and Phi Delt! Greek Week will come to a close on Friday with all teams joining forces to donate razors, deodorant, and toilet paper for our philanthropy, Giving the Basics.  A Greek Awards banquet will complete the night where results will be announced! This year's Greek Week focused its efforts on promoting unity within the K-State greek community, and teaching our sororities and fraternities how much we can accomplish if we come together.  Go Black Team!

Pi Phi Moms meet Breakfast at Tiffany's

This past weekend, Kansas Beta hosted our annual Mom's Weekend.  Members welcomed their moms to the House of Pi on both Saturday and Sunday morning for a delicious brunch, complete with chocolate covered strawberries and chicken salad croissant sandwiches.  Mothers and daughters were free to tour the house and, on Sunday, check out a variety of vendors set up in the living room.  Jewelry from Stella and Dot, Ray-Ban sunglasses, and Pi Phi attire were all available for purchase.  An elegant dinner and silent auction at the Manhattan Country Club perfected the weekend, with ladies dressed up in pearls and heels to own their inner Audrey Hepburn for this year's Breakfast at Tiffany's theme.  Proceeds from the auction will go toward updates within the Pi Phi House, and members could not be more excited for the changes!
