Homecoming

The week of October 24th, K-State hosted the university week-long homecoming competition. During this week, we were paired up with two fraternities, Acacia and Alpha Gamma Rho. Together we worked to create a chant, dance, window art and a float. Each night of the week had an event, and the week ended with a game against the University of Oklahoma. We had a great time getting to know our partners, and we are very proud of all we accomplished this week.

Initiation

The weekend of October 15th, the Kansas Beta Chapter of Pi Beta Phi initiated 53 new members, including one alumnae initiate. The initiation ceremony was held Friday night and Saturday morning, followed by "family" pictures, and dinner at the chapter house. The new members then had their first sleepover as official members of Pi Beta Phi. Congratulations to all new members and alumni that welcomed another family member into the Pi Phi family!

Ali Kemp Bandstand

This past week, we held our fall philanthropy, Ali Kemp Bandstand. We do this in honor of one of our members, Ali Kemp, who was tragically taken from us through a random act of violence. Every year, we hold a self defense class for women and then hold a concert afterwards for all. We had three great performers this year, including Kyle Blake, Caleb McGinn and Katelyn Epperly, a Pi Phi sister who was a top ten contestant of season 9 of American Idol. The proceeds of this philanthropy go to the T.A.K.E. Foundation, a cause started by Ali's family to promote self defense among women. Thanks to all who participated and contributed to make this event possible!
